Have you ever thought to become an organ and tissue donor?

Organ and Tissue Donation

The ultimate act of human solidarity, organ donation is a choice that can save someone’s life. There is a lot of apprehension surrounding this understandably delicate subject – it is however a choice that can save not one but multiple lives.
Diseased organ donation is only possible when a person has passed away in a hospital after suffering a brain injury. Due to the specific nature of the conditions needed, organ donation is not possible with every death. That is why, it is important to have as many donors as possible registered.
Consent is of course central to become an organ and tissue donor, that is why all countries have a system in place to opt in or out of organ donation. Besides registering as a donor, it is always a good idea to let your loved ones know about your wishes. Contrary to popular belief, there are no signs of the donation on the deceased as their bodies are always treated with respect. Organ donation is also accepted by most major faiths and denominations.
One cannot be too old to become an organ donor and most of the time suffering from a disease does not prevent you from being eligible to donate your organs. Your decision could save 8 people and help improve the lives of 73 more- leaving an invaluable legacy behind and helping to ease the pain of your loved ones.
