Today is World Autism Awareness Day, a day established by the United Nations to highlight the need for people on the autism spectrum to enjoy fundamental freedoms and lead fulfilling lives.
Navigating a neurotypical world while being neurodivergent is still challenging even though our communities are becoming more accepting and inclusive.
We are hopeful for the future, and especially about how the MedTech industry will continue to contribute to the well-being of people with autism, developing innovative and safe solutions in terms of diagnosis, care, and treatment.
We invite you to find more about autism and being on the spectrum by attending the United Nation’s virtual event “Moving from Surviving to Thriving: Autistic individuals share regional perspectives” to be held today, 2 April 2024 from 10 am to 1 pm. You can also watch the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme video “Sunflower Stories and Autism” where people with autism and caregivers share their stories. If you are a caregiver of a child with autism, you can access the World Health Organization’s training course here.
