The authors Amie Smirthwaite from RQM+ and Susanne Holm Faarbæk from BK Medical along with Amy Lewis, Despina Douka, Angeliki Koukoura, Vicky Valla, Ph.D, and Efstathios Vassiliadis from Evnia discuss the general concepts and definitions for preference testing focusing on patients, highlight the gap in international Regulations including European and American ones and highlight the need to develop a comprehensive framework of guidelines and standards to boost the implementation of preference testing while providing real-world examples of preference testing for some medical devices.
Adoption of preference testing is doomed to enable clinical research, innovation in healthcare, and regulatory decisions mainly with respect to reimbursement and access to medicines and healthcare.
