Today is International Universal Health Coverage Day, a day established to advocate for the need of universal health coverage. Health is a human right, that should be respected and protected. Unfortunately, today more than half of the global population does not have access to basic healthcare services.
This year’s International Universal Health Day theme is “Health for all: time for action” highlighting the need to make progress towards achieving access to healthcare for all. Health for all, is at the centre of United Nations’ Sustainable Goal 3 Good Health and Well-being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, aiming that by 2030 everyone of us will have access to healthcare services.
Achieving that requires strong healthcare systems, and constant collaboration within players such as governments, NGO’s, media, academia and health agencies. Universal health coverage can become a reality, if we all do our part.
Our part at Evnia is to facilitate timely market access of innovative medical products that cover unmet needs, and therefore to increase the likelihood of reimbursement and introduction to public healthcare structures. We ensure that manufacturers establish a comprehensive reimbursement strategy that facilitates the global and safe use of medicines, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics by the appropriate populations leaving no one behind and ensuring access to care and access to healthcare.
